A visit to a real movie set

Mespelbrunn moated castle is a very special treasure. It is hidden and idyllic in a secluded Spessart valley, about 20 kilometers south of our hotel and conference center Schmerlenbach. It is best known from television, as it was used as a filming location for the classic "Das Wirtshaus im Spessart".

Due to its hidden location, the castle has survived all wars unscathed and the original Renaissance style has been preserved. The more than 600-year-old walls certainly have a lot to tell: Love stories, exciting dramas and thrilling battles and intrigues took place inside and around the moated castle. You can immerse yourself in all these stories on a guided tour.

Incidentally, Mespelbrunn is still privately owned today. The owners are working hard to preserve the monument and at the same time want to make it accessible to the general public.

The castle can therefore be visited daily from March to November from 9 am to 5 pm. We are happy to organize alternative dates for groups. Just get in touch with us and we'll sort it out for you!
